- Line - usually black
- Load - usually black, red, or blue (less common)
- Ground - usually bare copper, or green
- Neutral - usually white
The wire colors used for your home wiring can vary due to numerous factors, such as the electrician’s preference, the year your home was wired, the region of the country, if your home was remodeled, etc. If the wires you see in your switch box are different than what we have indicated in this guide, please contact a professional electrician.
